In looking for a golden retriever there are so many qualities to look for in a breeder. Obviously health and temperament are top priority. I also know that the breeder you choose must care for, socialize, and put 24/7 care for the 8 weeks once the litter is born! This care and socialization is crucial for the puppy to be happy, healthy, confident and flourish in their new home. We did extensive research when choosing a breeder for our first golden retriever and that brought us to Oh My Goldens. Our main priority was finding a breeder that did in-depth health and genetic testing and truly cared for the puppies for the first 8 weeks of their lives and could be a resource for us if we ever needed support/education. We looked at past Facebook posts in the group to see what the puppies' first weeks looked like and raving reviews of families to solidify our decision. We loved how much care and intentionality Janet and Carl put into updating the new families on the puppies progress and early milestones. It was such a joy to have a sneak peek into the early days of Daisy’s life before we could officially take her home!
The adoption process overall was seamless and we felt extremely supported and informed throughout. We simply could not have dreamed up a more perfect first dog for our family. Daisy LOVES people, kids, dogs and is a social butterfly. She has the best personality and is both extremely gentle mannered and very energetic/athletic.
We would love to get her a sibling someday and will 100% be choosing Oh My Goldens again!

We are so happy with our sweet girl and absolutely adore her. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better dog than Calla. She is the sweetest, most loving girl and has become such an important part of our family. From the moment we brought her home, her gentle and affectionate personality shined through. She greets everyone at the door with tail wags and love, especially children… she absolutely adores them.
Calla also keeps us laughing every day with her goofy, funny personality. Whether she’s zooming around the yard, making silly faces, or proudly chasing after her favorite toy, she’s full of life and joy. She’s an avid squirrel hunter with an incredible natural instinct, nothing escapes her attention when she’s outside! She also loves her beauty sleep and would happily sleep in until 10 a.m. every day if we let her.
She often comes with us to our wrestling gym, where the wrestlers love to stop and pet her as they come and go. Almost every time we take her out in public, someone comments on her calm demeanor and how well-behaved and friendly she is. We are so thankful to have found such a wonderful breeder who gave us the best girl we could have ever imagined.

Our experience with Oh My Goldens (OMG) has been nothing short of amazing. Janet & Carl are truly dedicated to providing and raising the BEST quality goldens available. The commitment they have shown far exceeds other breeders that we have experienced. The communication, preparation, and process were very good and issue free. Both of our pups from OMG had no issues and came home in great health with current and up to date medical records.
I do not recall how we got connected with Janet & Carl, but we were blessed to meet them. Before our decision was made, we met with them and it was a very easy decision after that. Maverick came home with us and our family was complete again. Maverick was incredibly smart and obedient, yet playful and soft even with a young child. His very light golden color and his big beautiful brown eyes will never be forgotten. Unfortunately, Maverick was taken from us much too early due to an accident. (No fault to him or OMG). Once we were ready for another dog we immediately, without question or hesitation reached out to Janet and placed a deposit for another male pup.
We waited nearly half a year for Axel, an English Cream Golden Retriever. He was the pudgy one with the black collar! We get compliments frequently on how beautiful he is. Axel loves to cuddle and show his love. It’s so much fun coming home to a dog that loves to see you. He plays well with his “brothers”, a German Shepard and mini dachshund.

Bringing a Golden Retriever into our home from Oh My Goldens was, hands down, one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. From the moment we met Storm, we knew life was about to get messier, funnier, and so much more joyful.
Golden Retrievers are more than just beautiful dogs — they are walking sunshine. Storm greets every day (and every person) like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened. We found Oh My Goldens after searching for English Cream Golden Retriever breeders in Minnesota and instantly had a good feeling about them—and we were right! From the very beginning, Janet’s communication was absolutely amazing. She answered every question we had, kept us updated before and after the litter was born, and made the entire process so smooth and enjoyable.
What really stood out to us was how thoughtful and fun Janet and Carl were when they helped us surprise our kids at Christmas. They played along with our story that we were driving to pick up a table from Facebook Marketplace—and Carl even had a tiny dollhouse table waiting in the entryway to sell the story! Moments later, our kids met their puppy, and it was pure magic.
Our boy Rigby is now 85 pounds of pure joy—the best kind of crazy! He’s sweet, funny, and keeps us on our toes every single day. He’s also healthy as can be, and we couldn’t be happier.

When we were looking for a Golden Retriever puppy, we were looking for a breeder that prioritized the genetics of their puppies in finding a sire, and who truly loved their dogs. We found that in Janet and Carl Halverson. We got our puppy Remington from them, and he has been such a delight. He was bred to be obedient, intelligent, compliant, gentle, and friendly. He willingly slept the night through in his own crate from his first night in our home, bell trained within a week, and learned commands such as sit and shake almost right away. He knows to chew his toys and has never chewed furniture and has never misbehaved in the house. He can be trusted to be left alone in the house when we go for a few hours, and things are always just as we left them. Since we got him in the fall, he was able to go out in the woods to do some grouse hunting. He quickly learned to retrieve and is bred from a line of hunters! On top of all his perfect qualities, he is also a very attractive, perfectly proportioned, handsome retriever. We couldn’t be happier working with the Halversons; they are honorable, professional, and trustworthy. We also couldn’t be happier with our Remington; he is a wonderful member of our family.

Our family grew by four paws just over 6 years ago; Gunner joined our family and ever since we have hearts as full as you could imagine. We first started working with Janet and Carl in May of 2022 when we decided to look into getting a puppy. The process was so easy and they were so friendly. Not having owned a pet before this was new to us. We put our deposit down for a girl in their little that Lexi was expected to have that fall. Every step of the way we got updates and photos! We were so excited to bring our Nala home after having picked her out on puppy pick out day. Within a month of having Nala and the amazing connection we built with Janet and Carl we decided we wanted a second puppy and Lexie was expected to have another litter the following fall. We reached out and put a deposit down for the hopes of getting another girl. Again we got updates and pictures throughout the process and happily were blessed with our Willow. Over the past 3 years any time we have questions on anything we are able to reach out and they help us the best they can! The girls share a mom and dad being 1 year and 11 days apart. Their personalities are very unique, both are very smart and stubborn in their own way. Nala loves having her tummy rubbed and will pull your arm until you listen. Willow is very energetic and always wants to go somewhere. Everyone comments on how gorgeous and soft they are.

Getting my two goldens from Oh My Goldens changed my life. These dogs are everything to me. I spend my entire days with them either laying in bed with them or going on multiple walks to throwing ball for countless hours. I center my vacations around them because I want to see them happy. When I got these two fluffs I had a great experience. I was updated constantly on the process with picture updates and how they were progressing each time. I highly recommend getting your golden from here. These dogs are top of the line. I get compliments everywhere I go when they see these two strut down the street wagging their tails side to side. I had been looking for a golden retriever for about a year until I found Janet and Carl. Every time I contacted someone it just didn't feel right and their compassion for the breed and puppies didn't match what I was looking for. I first found them and sent a text to Carl and could instantly tell something was different. Later that day I had a half hour conversation with Janet and knew I finally found what I was looking for! They are both knowledgeable and put so much time and effort into their puppies, and were just as excited as I was. I put a deposit down that day and throughout the next 8 weeks spoke to both of them multiple times a week. Once I visited and picked out Leo I forgot all the difficulties I had in finding the right breeder and felt so comfortable. Leo is 10 months old now and is the smartest, cutest, and wittiest golden around. He loves being outside and chasing birds and rabbits but is so loving and gentle. When I found out they would be breeding again I did not even think twice about getting him a brother and am super excited to start the process all over again.

We lost our 15-year-old Yellow Lab last fall. We didn’t think we were going to get another dog, but then we found Marvin. He was known as "Tan Boy" in the litter and was the last puppy left. You could say he fell into our laps. Janet and Carl breed and raise amazing puppies. We were impressed with the love Marvin had received prior to us picking him up. Marvin is 10 months old and has a great temperament and personality. He is very intelligent, observes mannerisms and analyzes emotions. He is very trainable and just wants to please his family. He has really turned into a best friend. He loves the dog park, sitting outside in the grass, playing fetch and making us laugh. We highly recommend a Golden Retriever from Carl and Janet - they had great communication and they really do care about where the puppy will be going for their Forever Home. I believe their love and care as breeders creates a higher quality puppy

The Halverson’s are a very loving family and they spend a lot of time socializing the puppies in those early weeks. When our family had to say goodbye to our beloved golden retriever last year we were heartbroken. After a couple of months, we began the search for a golden puppy to bring into our family.
