Welcome to our website. We are Carl & Janet Halverson from Rice, MN. We have been married since 1984!! As a family, we have enjoyed having pets as family members as we raised our six children, which includes 5 sons: Jake, Zach, Ty, Nate & Alex and 1 daughter: Courtney. We now have 2 beautiful granddaughters as well, Aurora age 9 and Emmy age 6. Carl taught school for 39 years at Royalton High School and just retired in May of 2020. Janet was a stay at home mom as we raised our family and was formerly a Closing Manager for a local realtor in St Cloud until recently.
Our goal is to give others the opportunity to own a quality pet that excels in obedience and has a temperament you would be proud of. Whether you need a hunting companion, a buddy for your small children to play with, a trained therapy dog, or just a cherished member of your family, we hope to deliver just that! Our goal is always to make the breed better. We dedicate ourselves to producing healthy, smart and proven bloodlines!
Our puppies get a lot of time invested in them several times a day from birth on. During the first weeks of life beginning on the 3rd day ,we perform 5 exercises for early neurological stimulation on each pup once a day. There is some great research on the benefits of this Bio Sensor or sometimes referred to as the Super Dog Program! They also get beginning training and are very much socialized!! We expose them to many sounds and have a radio playing from birth. They are also exposed to children, people, toys and other dogs on a regular basis. At 4-4 ½ weeks they move from their whelping boxes to larger playpen areas. They get exposure to crates, many toys as well as other types of stimulation. The pups have amazed us just how fast they are able to begin to understand the concept of paper training. At just 4 ½ weeks old with our first litter as we cleaned out their pen, we recall there were almost no accidents anywhere but on the paper on the far side of the pen away from their eating and sleeping areas. Can you say almost paper trained at 5 weeks! Another favorite memory was throwing a bird wing and watching a group of 4 puppies as they retrieved it together! During times when the weather is too cold for them to be outside our heated garage and entry room become their home. We also have a huge outdoor covered playpen area for our summer litters to play in daily. We work with them in small groups of 2 or 3 as well as spending one on one time with them out in the yard. They all learn at an early age to excel at following their trainer and turn to make eye contact to see where they are supposed to be going. Every time that we change direction, we drop to our knees and give them praise. We never chase them, and they are taught to follow us and come when called.
Depending on what you are looking for if you let us know the physical or personality traits important to you, we will try to fit your need. When you spend a little time alone with your chosen selection, you will see why we were not shocked to invest four times the dollar amount on our Bailey than we had on a few of our previous family members. It wasn’t until then that we finally understood why people invest more in their family pets, after we got our Bailey. We have seen a return in our investment that will last for many, many years to come.
Before you take your puppy home you should be sure to bring a blanket to rub down their Mama and a stuffed animal to rub down littermates with. Taking home this scent with them helps greatly as they transition to their new homes and helps them not to feel so lonely. We also send you home with a sample of their current puppy food to prevent digestion problems. Should you decide to transition to a new food later, this should be done very gradual by mixing small amounts together until you eventually transition to your new food. You will be sent home with your puppy’s vet records and our veterinarians’ number in case you have any questions regarding your puppy. We also reserve the right to not hold a puppy’s deposit for someone who we feel may not be a good fit for one of our pups. We want our babies going to the best homes possible!
Puppy selection process starts when the puppies are 5 weeks old.
Puppies will be able to go to their new homes at 8 weeks. All puppies will go home with AKC paperwork, Limited Registration (Full Registration is available for an additional fee to approved families), Dew Claws removed, Vet Exams and First Series of Shots. They will be wormed 3 times before they go home. Our puppies go to their new homes when they are 8 weeks old. The first 8 weeks are a critical time in the development of young puppies. Important socialization skills are learned at this time, with not only the dam but with other littermates.
When you choose one of our puppies it is not a one and done. We will always be available to answer questions or share any advice that may be helpful. We look forward to keeping in touch and hearing your stories and experiences with your new family member. That is one of our greatest rewards of this business!! 😊
